about
In 2018, the band made the ambitious decision to move from Christchurch to Melbourne, Australia - a melting pot of music culture that the band would learn to grapple with over the next year. They decided to hone their craft by writing a song a day for 2 months, trying to remain consistent in an utterly inconsistent circumstance, with the pressures of balancing work, relationships and music. Though this was a challenging time with many ups and downs, they succeeded and had over 50 songs they could then pick apart and edit to create this collection.
Out of those 50 songs comes "Shat My Spacesuit" - a song that serves to amuse and confuse much like the title suggests. The turbulent relocation from New Zealand is addressed here with fuzzy ambiquity, and the song's psychedelic underlay is a flavourable difference from the band's classic rock beginnings. With this release, Skelter are now digging deep into the land of modern psychedelia, and are turning a blind eye to their riff-rock roots in favour on a more eccletic and unhinged approach.
lyrics
I notice all my days play out the same
Wasted before my eyes can see the way
Mind over matter least that's what they say
Holding on to the blame
I don’t need to know which path to take
This is a message home
Yes I repeat
Don't wanna be on my own
I just need to leave
Oh memories, what I used to be
Changing from what I used to see
Tossing and turning
Put me to sleep
I should have never let it take control
Slow over time I'll abuse my body and soul
Don’t take personal, I'm still the same
Holding on to the blame
I don’t need to know which path to take
This is a message home
Yes I repeat
Don't wanna be on my own
I just need to leave
I just need to leave
These memories what I used to be
Changing from what I used to see
Tossing and turning
Put me to sleep
Shame
I've been holding on too long gotta give it up give it up
Shame
I've been holding on too long gotta give it up give it up
This is a message home
Yes I repeat
Don't wanna be on my own
I just need to leave
This is message home
Yes I repeat
Don't wanna be on my own
I just need to leave
I just need to leave
These memories what I used to be
Changing from what I used to see
Tossing and turning
Put me to sleep
